-- A --

  • Age Slider - an alter who's mental age slides/changes.
  • Alter - a dissociated state of self.
  • Anchor - a subtype of stabilizer who I can only describe as if a weighted blanket was an alter.
  • Animal Alter - an alter who is an animal.

-- C --
  • Caretaker - an alter that takes care of others in the system, especially the younger alters or more sensitive alters.
  • Co-conscious - (also known as cocon/co-con) when two or more alters are remaining conscious or aware of the outside world at once.
  • Co-fronting - (also known as cofront) when two or more alters are in control of the body at the same time to varying degrees.

  • Dormant - an alter that currently is not detected in system, and has not been active in ages.

-- F --
  • Facet - an alter who is still somewhat connected to another alter, and has little to no amnesia between switches.
    • Complicated Facet - when we say "complicated facet" we mean that the connections between alters fluctuates and may disconnect from time to time, thus causing amnesia between switches when connection is low or disconnected.
  • Fami - familial relationships.
  • Fictive - (also known as "Fictional Introject") an alter based in fictional media.
  • Fragment - an alter who is very limited in their range of emotion, existence, or exist to simply do one thing.
  • Front - the alter(s) that is(/are) currently in control of the body. also see Co-fronting.
  • Fusion - two or more alters fused into one entity/consciousness. do not confuse with integration.

  • Gatekeeper - an alter who can keep alters from fronting if it feels necessary. they can also try to control who's fronting when they are near frontspace.
  • Groups - groups within headspace that an alter is a part of. A list of groups is here.

-- H --
  • Headspace - an internal world in which alters can manifest as themselves and interact.

-- I --
  • Interest Holder - an alter who holds a specific interest for the system, usually having to do with media.
  • Internal Self Help - (abbreviated as "ISH") an alter that holds vast amounts of knowledge about the system, alters, trauma, and/or internal workings.

-- M --
  • Maintenance - an alter who frequently keeps databases up to date and makes sure alters are taking care of themselves. very similar to ISH, but for some reason is seen as different in our headspace, like an in-between of caretaker and ISH.
  • Mediator - an alter who keeps alters from arguing, or is the negotiator between arguing alters. a peacekeeper.

  • Outernaut - an alternative to ‘host’. an alter who is primarily responsible for fronting and external matters/daily life. (source)

-- P --
  • Perinaut - an alternative to ‘co-host’ or ‘secondary host’. an alter who is not primarily responsible, but holds a close secondary responsibility for fronting and external matters/daily life and/or is frequently near/orbits close to front. (source)
  • Persecutor - an alter who has intentions of harming other alters or the system as a whole. this can be internally, externally, or both.
    • Reformed Persecutor - a persecutor who has worked to recover from persecutive tendencies. they may relapse at times.
  • Protector - an alter who protects the system and its alters from harm, whether its internal, external, or both.
    • Misguided Protector - a protector who protects the system in ways that do more harm than help for the system. for example, lashing out at others or isolating the body from external friends as a means of protecting from ridicule.

  • Romo - romantic relationships.

-- S --
  • Small - (also known as little) an alter who is under the age of 13. we specifically use small over little most of the time because of appropriation of "little" from the CGL community.
  • Snaptive - (also known as "Snapshot Introject") an alter who is based in a specific snapshot of a time, place, person, concept, and/or etc. one who is introjected from a specific part in/of (x), not (x) as a whole. coined by 🔴.
  • Source - the piece of media a fictive is based on.
  • Stabilizer - an alter who fronts to stabilize the body when an alter and/or multiple alters become distressed. can also stabilize in co-front or co-con, but most of the time a full switch is required.
  • Subsystem - a system within a system.

  • Tags - an area to list an alter's sexual/gender identities as well as system roles and other general information.
  • Trauma Holder - an alter who holds trauma the system has endured. it can be specific memories/traumatic events, or it can be in a general sense.
